A delivery experience for your team

Make your content easier to find, use and maintain

Your team has already done the hard work of creating useful technical information. XDelivery brings published content together in a searchable delivery experience, with metadata, update options and integration choices that support the way your documentation is used.

01

Bring different formats together

Give readers a shared starting point for DITA, PDF, HTML and video content. Organize delivery around what readers need to accomplish, so a useful document can be found alongside related information even when it came from a different source.

02

Make metadata work for readers

Apply meaningful metadata to individual items or groups of content, including unstructured formats. Plan facets around distinctions your readers understand, such as product, document type or language, then use those filters to help them narrow their search.

03

Choose how updates reach the portal

Support a manual publishing process or programmatic content updates, depending on your source systems and release workflow. Give your team a practical way to refresh delivered information while keeping authoring responsibilities and delivery responsibilities clearly defined.

An example workflow

From a new release to a useful answer

Step 1

Prepare the publication

Choose the approved content for a release and identify its audience. Agree which metadata should travel with the content, including the distinctions readers will use to recognize the right information.

Step 2

Publish and organize

Bring the content into XDelivery through your chosen update process. Apply the agreed metadata and check how the publication appears within the portal’s categories, search results and audience permissions.

Step 3

Check the reader journey

Test a real reader question from search through to the relevant content. Review the filters, language and access experience before using the same delivery approach for subsequent content updates.

Illustrative workflow: configure the content, metadata, permissions and integrations for your organization.

Information architecture

Design the route to the answer

A useful portal begins with the questions readers bring to it. Which product are they using? What task are they trying to finish? What document format will help? Use those questions to shape a metadata model and navigation that make sense beyond the authoring team. XDelivery supports metadata enrichment and faceted search, giving you ways to organize mixed-format content around those needs. Start with a representative content set, test realistic searches and refine the labels before expanding the collection.

Delivery architecture

Fit delivery around your content operation

XDelivery is the delivery layer for published information. XDocs DITA CCMS supports structured content creation and management upstream; other sources can also contribute to the delivery experience. Decide where your readers need access, whether that is a dedicated portal or an existing site or application using headless delivery and APIs. Then define how updates will move between systems. Hosted and on-premises deployment options let the implementation discussion include your operational requirements as well as the experience you want readers to have.

Your questions, answered

Practical questions about your delivery experience

Does XDelivery replace our authoring system?

XDelivery focuses on delivering published content. XDocs DITA CCMS supports authoring and content management, and XDelivery can bring together content from multiple sources. Your implementation should define which system owns the source and how approved updates reach readers.

Can we deliver more than DITA content?

Yes. XDelivery supports a mix of DITA, PDF, HTML and video. Metadata can also enrich unstructured content, helping you establish a consistent way for readers to browse and filter information across different formats.

How do we update published information?

Content can be updated manually or programmatically. The right approach depends on your publishing process, source systems and integration needs. Map who approves each update, how it enters the portal and how the reader experience will be checked.

Can content appear in an existing website?

Headless delivery and APIs support integration with other sites and applications. The implementation needs to define the destination, content selection and access rules. You can also use a dedicated XDelivery portal where that better suits your audience.
